Pollen Monitoring in the City of Ivano-Frankivsk, Western Ukraine

Abstract: The results of aeropalynological studies in Ivano-Frankivsk during 2013–2015 are presented in this article. The studies were conducted using a specially designed gravimetric Durham pollen trap installed at a height of 24 m from the ground. We determined that pollen grains of the following taxa dominate in the city’s aeropalynological spectrum: Corylus, Alnus, Betula, Populus, Fraxinus, Salix</e… Show more

“…often recorded in the first ten days of August and was probably associated with pollen production by A. vulgaris. Similarly, the Artemisia pollen peak concentration was reported in the first week of August in Ukraine [63]. The second peak was noted in Lublin in September and may have been related to the pollen release by A. annua, which blooms at the end of summer [62].…”

“…There were only a few trees of this taxon in close proximity to the measuring site in Szczecin. However, a study conducted in Ukraine showed that, due to the lime entomophily, the large number of trees was not reflected in the pollen spectrum in various cities, as the amount of lime pollen accounted for less than 1% [ 33 , 34 ].…”

“…These allergens are present in the environment and are common source of inhalant allergies. About 20–30% of population in Ukraine various regions has affected by pollinosis (Melnychenko et al, 2020). In Australia almost 1 million inhabitants have affected by pollen allergy out of 8 million population (Bastl et al, 2018).…”

“…From last few decades respiratory allergy reaction increasing and prevalence in Europe showing increase of pollen allergy almost 40% and it also has clinical impact all over Europe (D'amato et al, 2007). Information about quantitative dynamics of allergy causing pollen from any area for predicting an also for assessing situation of aero allergenic pollen (Melnychenko et al, 2020). From industrialized countries almost 20% inhabitant are suffering from pollen allergy of flowering plants and in many areas of world it is affecting human health.…”
