Abstract: Porophyllum ruderale (Jacq.) Cass is a medicinal plant of the family Asteraceae, originally from South America and widely distributed in Brazil. It is popularly known as “couvinha”, “arnica-paulista”, “picão-branco”, among other names. It is used in folk medicine for the treatment of bruises and it has few studies regarding its chemical and agronomic aspects.
