“…This is in agreement with a previous report on beef cattle (Short et al, 1990) but contrary to findings on dual-purpose Rubio and colleagues (1999), who reported that the magnitude of decline in BCS from parturition to the end of the first month post partum was not associated with any of the measures of reproductive performance. Prominent among the factors previously reported to affect postpartum resumption of ovarian activity in cattle are suckling (Saiduddin et al, 1968;Eduvie, 1985), nutrition (Wiltbank et al, 1962), and season and parity of the dam (Buch et al, 1955). The period of true anoestrus or acyclicity is often prolonged in postpartum suckling beef cows (Oxenreider, 1968;Inskeep and Lishman, 1981).…”

“…Also, Salasel and Mokhtari (2011) reported that treatment with PGF2α had no effect on days to first estrus and The interval from parturition to involution of the uterus has been reported as lasting from 26 to 52 days (MORROW et al, 1969). The length of this interval increases with parity, decreases with an increase in milk production (BUCH et al, 1955). Cows in this experiment were paired for milk yield and parity to minimize these confounding effects.…”

“…Based primarily on rectal palpations and clinical observations, the time period needed for uterine involution to occur has been reported to be from 25 (Morrow et al, 1966) to 50 days (Buch, Tyler & Casida, 1955). The time of first ovulation has been reported as 15 days (Morrow et al, 1966), 19 days (Menge, Mares, Tyler & Casida, 1962) and 35 days post partum (Casida & Wisnicky, 1950).…”
