Worldwide 2–3 million cases of keratinocyte carcinoma (KC) are diagnosed annually. Sun‐related knowledge is essential for adequate protection against solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR), the main risk factor for KC. The goal was (i) to provide an updated overview of primary prevention against KC including skin cancer‐related knowledge, attitudes and sun protection behaviour (SPB) of outdoor workers, the general population and medical professionals as well as (ii) to evaluate the effectiveness and acceptability of sun protection programmes. We conducted a systematic review of articles indexed for MEDLINE on PubMed using selected MeSH terms and keywords related to the studied topic as well as an extensive hand search of publications between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2018. We identified 51 relevant cross‐sectional studies and 22 interventional studies. Sun‐related knowledge and attitude showed substantial differences with some alarming results, including people who had not even heard about skin cancer before. Reported SPB varied enormously between the included studies, with none of the studies providing an overall sufficient SPB in their examined sun protection measures. However, sun protection programmes using new technologies seem to have great potential to increase sun‐related knowledge and SPB. In countries worldwide, particularly in those where KC is not yet a public health issue, UVR protection should be promoted by healthcare institutions and authorities, politicians, cancer foundations and dermatologists to increase awareness as well as SPB and to decrease the worldwide burden of KC.

Background: Police officer serves a vital role in maintaining safety and serve are role model for discipline throughout the world, they are non–intentional type sun exposure(NISE).The objective of our present study was to evaluate photo protector practice, knowledge in response to Ultra violet Radiation ,Sunscreens and sun related photodermatosis. Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted in traffic police officer at different locations at Kathmandu. Data was collected by using self-administered questionnaires and interviewed by Dermatologist to establish their knowledge and behaviour and practice in relation to ultra violet radiation and photo-protection. Result: Out of 265 participants, mean age was 27.1 years. Respondent with graduation and master degrees had knowledge and practice toward UVR, follow by higher secondary education. Regarding the practice for photo protection only 59.6% had knowledge about sunscreen, 39.6% knowledge about Ultraviolet Radiation and 24.9% had knowledge about Ultra Violet Index .Skin problem like melasma, premature wrinkles, and hardening of skin, polymorphic light eruption, burning foot syndrome, dermatophytes, and varicose vein. Conclusion: Traffic police officers showed good practices in term of wearing hat, clothes that cover most of the body parts but poor practice over sunscreen, UVR, UVI. Lectures & seminar regarding the awareness and photo protection practice should be recommended. With lack of awareness among police officers and providing sunscreen for free should be considered by Police authorities. Similarly lectures & seminar on sun protection should be provided in regularly.

Assessment of Micronucleus Frequency and Respiratory Health Symptoms Among Traffic Policemen Exposed to Btex and PM2.5 in Klang Valley, Malaysia

Volatile organic compounds such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX), and particulate matter (PM) with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) are often associated with traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) and harm the health of the community. This study aimed to evaluate the personal air pollutant exposure, micronucleus (MN) frequency, and respiratory health symptoms among 160 traffic policemen and 149 office workers in Klang Valley. Personal exposure concentrations for BTEX and PM2.5 among traffic police were 390.12 μg/m3 and 140.00 μg/m3 respectively, whereas 97.64 μg/m3 (BTEX) and 23.00 µg/m3 (PM2.5) among office workers. Statistical analysis for MN frequency between traffic policemen (6.2±2.6) and office workers (3.0±2.0) shows a significant difference (p < 0.001). The Chi-Square test for respiratory health symptoms indicates that only cough shows the significant differences between traffic policemen and office workers (χ2 = 5.645, p = 0.018, PR = 1.800). In short, this study showed that TRAP exposure would increase the chromosomal damage that can cause high MN frequency among traffic policemen and would increase the prevalence of respiratory health symptoms among urban workers.
