Precision Evaluation of Three-dimensional Feature Points Measurement by Binocular Vision

Abstract: Binocular-pair images obtained from two cameras can be used to calculate the three-dimensional (3D) world coordinate of a feature point. However, to apply this method, measurement accuracy of binocular vision depends on some structure factors. This paper presents an experimental study of measurement distance, baseline distance, and baseline direction. Their effects on camera reconstruction accuracy are investigated. The testing set for the binocular model consists of a series of feature points in stereo-pair i… Show more

“…The 2D image coordinates and the 3D world coordinates of the feature points in the initial position are known values, therefore, the transformation matrices are calibrated by Eqs. (3) and (4). Then the 3D world coordinates are reconstructed by the 2D image coordinates and the transformation matrices.…”

“…Calibration is the effective way to ensure the precision of the brake tester directly and enhance the brake performance of the vehicle indirectly [10][11][12]. In previous researches, most of the calibration methods are presented according to the static inspection status by which the calibration force is carried out on a static roller [13,14].…”
