“…The IR spectra of the polymer, amino-containing silica and synthesized adsorbent were investigated in order to confirm that chemical immobilization of PGH had occurred on the silica surface. As shown by Kitawaki and Shorai (1968), the IR spectrum of PGH is characterized by the presence of absorption bands at 2920, 2860 and 1470 cm -1 corresponding to methyl and methylene groups, bands within the range 3220-3240 cm -1 relating to amino groups and at 1650 cm -1 relating to the imino groups of guanidine. The absorption at 1650 cm -1 , together with a band at 1570 cm -1 associated with the vibration of C=N bonds, was observed in the spectrum of the adsorbent obtained after continuous washing of the modified sample with water.…”
