Plant based diet such as vegetables, cereals, legumes and oilseeds contain 80% of total phosphorous in the form of phytic acid-cation complexes, bound phosphorous being excreted in manure due to unavailability of phytate degrader in the gastrointestinal tract of monogastric animals (Ashraf et al., 2013).
