Quantitative Assessment of Jackets Appearances with Bonding Adhesive Interlinings using Two-dimensional and Three-dimensional Analysis

Abstract: Abstract:The quantitative assessment methods for appearance differences of jackets caused by bonding different adhesive interlinings to face fabric were investigated. A sensory test was carried out to evaluate jacket appearance differences depending on different adhesive interlinings. The quantitative assessment methods of jacket appearances were investigated using 2D and 3D image analysis. The outlines of cross point location for both lapel and bottom in the front view were obtained from the 2D images. The ho… Show more

“…Some researchers have investigated the efficiency of adhesive points. In particular, the prediction of mechanical properties for laminated fabric bonded with adhesive interlining is of great interest [61,62,63]. The adhesive method of fusible interlining affects the fabric’s physical properties.…”

“…To assess unevenness of curved surface, the ideal shape of the garment without wrinkle is required. To avoid such problem, we used variance of curvature of a cross sections of 3D scanned data for garment as an index of the unevenness (Kim et al, 2013).…”

“…The curvature and variance of curvature of the cross sections for each part were calculated. The average of the variance of curvature is referred to as the smoothness value (Kim et al, 2013) and compared with the sensory test results.…”

“…Studies have investigated the changes in bending rigidity and shear stiffness associated with bonding adhesive interlining [1][2][3][4][5]. The effect of adhesive interlining on jacket appearance was investigated by Kim et al [6], who found that the surface smoothness and waist line and thus the appearance of a jacket were affected by bonding adhesive interlining.…”
