QUENCHING OF O2(b1+g)

Abstract: We have been making measurements of the rate of reactions of Oz(blC:) in a discharge flow system. The mechanisms and kinetics of the reactions involving this species have been outlined by Ogryzlo and co-workers.'*2 The 'C: state is continuously being formed in the tube by the disproportionation of two lowerlying Oz(alA,) molecules:The (IX;) is quenched either on the wall or by an added quencher:Our principal measurement is the relative intensity of the forbidden emission of the I Z : state at 7,619 A. The '2: … Show more

“…(Table: [1180], and Dunlea et al [421]. Less direct measurements reported by Noxon [1003], Myers and O'Brien [940], and Chatha et al [247] are consistent with the recommendation. The temperature dependence of the rate coefficient is derived from the results of Kohse-Höinghaus and Stuhl between 203 and 349 K and of Dunlea et al between 210 and 370 K.…”

“…Stated differently, it may be that if consistent sanctioning is combined with excessively severe punishments, adverse unintended consequences may result. Behavioral research has shown that punishments used in an extreme or haphazard manner often create undesirable results, such as the learning of aggression or the triggering of escape behavior (Marlowe & Kirby, 1999;Myers, 2001). Therefore, it is foreseeable that sanctions, if applied in a reckless manner, can have detrimental effects on supervision outcomes.…”

“…Many introductory courses in psychology introduce the correlation coefficient (e.g., Myers, 2009) and incorporating hands-on exercises with table creation in such courses may help prepare students for advanced study in the undergraduate curriculum. On the other end of the spectrum, advanced topic courses in psychology may involve exposure to statistics that students have never learned explicitly as an undergraduate in an introductory statistics course (e.g., structural equation modeling, mixed-methods designs).…”
