Range ambiguity resolving of HPRF radar based on hybrid filter

Abstract: In this paper, a novel method of range ambiguity resolving based on hybrid filter is proposed for high-pulse repetition frequency (HPRF) radars. By considering the discrete-valued pulse interval number (PIN) which is described as the radial range of the target divided by the maximum unambiguous range for a certain HPRF and its incremental variable as target states, the problem of range ambiguity resolving is converted to the hybrid state estimation problem. In the initial time steps, since the range measuremen… Show more

“…In this section, the recursive Bayesian solution of the hybrid systems described in the previous section will be implemented with the MMPHDF-DA, which can directly approximate the state and measurement equations required by (14) and (19). As presented in Figure 2, the implementation of proposed method mainly includes three parts: MMPHDF with range ambiguity, "track-estimate" DA with the outputs of MMPHDF and estimates revision with the updated target tracks.…”

“…At present, there have been lots of data processing based researches on single target tracking with range ambiguity and some effective methods have been proposed, such as Chinese Remainder Theorem [15,16], permutation and combination method [17], multiple hypothesis (MH) [18], hybrid filter [19], and so on. However, when tracking multiple targets in clutters with range ambiguity, the matching of range gates of different PRFs before range ambiguity resolving is required.…”

“…However, for the weighted Hough transform it is considered the case in which the weight of a sample point varies according to its environment [10].The weighted Hough transform uses the weight of a sample point as the value by which the counter is incremented. The other operations are the same as in the original Hough transform.…”

“…The Hough detection scheme includes CFAR signal detector in the area of observation, HT of the target distance measurements from the observation area into the parameter space, binary integration of data in the parameter space for linear trajectory detection. These CFAR Hough detectors have been studied in cases when the target flies in one azimuth and the speed is constant [5][6][7][8][9][10].…”

“…There are many classical techniques available for resolving range ambiguity, such as signal processing methods [4,5], Remainder Theorem method (RT) [6,7], Residues Difference Lookup Table method (RDT) [8] and hybrid filter method [9,10]. However, these methods have various drawbacks, as they rely on either the lower measurement error in the case of the signal method, or the higher signal-noise-ratio (SNR) in the case of the other methods.…”
