“…After six to eight strippings of guinea-pig ears, peaks in the 3H-thymidine labelling index were seen at 30 and 60 hr, with a return to normal by 3-4 days (Christophers & Braun-Falco, 1967). After twenty-four strippings, the labelling index in guinea-pig ears was highest at 24 hr, but did not return to normal within 9 days (Schellander, 1969). These variations in results may be attributed to differences in the epidermal thickness of humans, guinea-pigs and mice, differences in the number of tape applications (Pinkus, 1952;Schellander, 1969), differences in the normal growth kinetics of the assay tissues, or to differences in the methods of estimating cell proliferation.…”
