In this paper, we discuss the sensing studies of 1-butanol volatile organic compound (VOC) in an indigenously developed gas chamber. Designing of the portable gas chamber is discussed with the integration of thin-film ZnO sensor on an Inter-digitated electrodefabricated on a flexible Teflon substrate. Exposure of 1-butanol VOC inside the chamber causes a change in the resistance of the ZnO thin film. This change in the resistance is converted to voltage with a Wheatstone bridge network and an instrumentation amplifier circuit designed using precision components. The sensitivity of the sensor for 50 ppm and 100 ppm of 1-butanol is tested at room temperature (27°C) and the results are compared with our early studies using Keithley instruments.
