Abstract:The elimination rate of a parenteral dose of galactose, an indirect indication of the redox state of the liver hepatocytes, was determined in 46 children during anaesthesia and surgery. The anaesthetics used were thiopentone sodium, propanidid, halothane, diethyl ether, and nitrous oxide, administered in seven different combinations. The results suggest no direct involvement by any of the types of anaesthesia used in the liver redox system. Nevertheless, the normal oxidative metabolism may be affected indirect… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
