Background: Application of appropriate teaching and learning strategies is a necessary way of influencing student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to explore students' views, perceptions and the effects of these on different teaching and learning approaches. Methods: Twenty one nursing students who were exposed to different teaching strategies were selected as a purposive sample for this study. Qualitative analysis of feedback from six individual interviews and two focus groups encompass a rich data set to inform nurse educators about student perceptions regarding impact of teaching approaches on their learning outcomes. Results: Participants indicated advantages and disadvantages of each of the teaching strategies and recommended suggestions for improving learning outcomes. The findings also described how a student's preferred learning strategy impacted on learning outcomes when criteria for surface, deep and strategic approaches were taken into consideration.Conclusions: This research provides evidence for educators on the effects of innovative teaching and learning strategies in nursing education. It also provides preliminary feedback on the extent of achievements on the movement towards national reforms in higher education.

This paper focuses on the characteristics of immersive media technology and the advantages, problems and solutions in applying this technology to improve the teaching effectiveness of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities. Firstly, it introduces the current development and characteristics of immersive media technology. Secondly, it analyzed the outstanding advantages of immersive media technology in teaching from the following perspectives: virtual reality and augmented reality; sensory stimulation and emotional experience; and human-computer interaction and self-harmony. Thirdly, it puts forward the ways to improve the teaching effectiveness based on immersive media technology from the aspects of theoretical study, history study, and practical study of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities. Finally, it discusses the problems in applying immersive media technology to teaching the above courses and puts forward some solutions.

Under the rapid progress of educational reform, the evaluation method of students’ studies in China is only partially adjusted or even remains at the same level for a long time. There will be a growing gap between it and the existing education system and social needs. Therefore, based on the concept of quantitative evaluation, the gap and unreasonable evaluation methods of academic evaluation of theoretical courses of physical and vocal music education majors caused by unfair educational resources and physical conditions of Chinese students have been studied. Student Growth Percentile (SGP) academic evaluation model based on the current education situation in China is proposed. By analyzing the establishment process of this model and comparing it with the current two academic evaluation models, the advantages and disadvantages of the SGP model are analyzed. Then, a practical application case of the SGP model in a place is used to show the model’s actual evaluation process and feedback results. Through the SGP model on the growth evaluation of group students and the teaching evaluation of teachers, the growth and problems of students in this stage and whether the teachers’ teaching is effective are analyzed to obtain the pertinent results. Finally, the students and teachers are investigated, and their satisfaction with this model is 81% and 75%, respectively, proving this model’s reliability and practicality.
