This study hypothesized that female peri-conceptional undernutrition evokes transcriptomic alterations in the pig myometrium during the peri-implantation period. Myometrium was collected on days 15–16 of pregnancy from pigs fed a normal- (n = 4) or restricted-diet (n = 4) from conception until day 9th of pregnancy, and the transcriptomic profiles of the tissue were compared using Porcine (V2) Expression Microarrays 4 × 44 K. In restricted diet-fed pigs, 1021 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) with fold change ≥ 1.5, P ≤ 0.05 were revealed, and 708 of them were up-regulated. Based on the count score, the top within GOs was GO cellular components “extracellular exosome”, and the top KEGG pathway was the metabolic pathway. Ten selected DEGs, i.e. hydroxysteroid (17β) dehydrogenase 8, cyclooxygenase 2, prostaglandin F receptor, progesterone receptor membrane component 1, progesterone receptor membrane component 2, annexin A2, homeobox A10, S-phase cyclin A-associated protein in the ER, SRC proto-oncogene, non-receptor tyrosine kinase, and proliferating cell nuclear antigen were conducted through qPCR to validate microarray data. In conclusion, dietary restriction during the peri-conceptional period causes alterations in the expression of genes encoding proteins involved i.a. in the endocrine activity of the myometrium, embryo-maternal interactions, and mechanisms regulating cell cycle and proliferation.

A clonagem animal configura-se como um marco do agronegócio, cujo conhecimento é dúbio e o desenvolvimento configura-se como incipiente. Diante disso, o objetivo desse estudo consistiu em identificar os reflexos, contribuições, desafios e/ou tendências da clonagem animal no contexto agrícola. Para tanto, empregou-se uma revisão sistemática da literatura, cujo portfólio analisado correspondeu a publicações científicas disponíveis na base de dados Web of Science, que atendiam determinados critérios de inclusão/exclusão, totalizando 14 estudos. Quanto à relevância, observou-se que, conjuntamente, estes estudos possuem 310 citações, cujo índice H corresponde a sete. Todavia, constata-se que nos últimos quatro anos não ocorreram publicações sobre clonagem animal e atividade agrícola. Entretanto, as citações de tais trabalhos mantiveram-se constantes, com uma redução a partir de 2015. Após leitura minuciosa de tais arquivos, os resultados foram sintetizados através de um mapa mental, que demonstra as variáveis antecedentes e determinantes da clonagem animal no contexto agropecuário a partir da circunscrição apresentada pelo portfólio obtido. Os resultados pontuaram que a clonagem animal representa uma tecnologia com significativo potencial para transformar a produção e o mercado agroalimentar. No entanto, tem-se o desconhecimento e o misticismo que rodeiam tal processo, tornam-no dotado de distintas facetas. Dentre essa, destaca-se a imprecisão na taxa de sobrevivência dos animais, elevados custos de produção e comportamento dos consumidores. Entre os demais achados da pesquisa, tem-se a sinalização de variáveis consideradas relevantes em estudos sobre a temática, tais como: produtividade, manutenção genética, discussões secundárias, relação custo-benefício e projeções. Como fundamentos que orientam a clonagem animal aplicada ao agronegócio observam-se preceitos éticos e capitalização do conhecimento.

Farm animal genomics is of interest to a wide audience of researchers because of the utility derived from understanding how genomics and proteomics function in various organisms. Applications such as xenotransplantation, increased livestock productivity, bioengineering new materials, products and even fabrics are several reasons for thriving farm animal genome activity. Currently mined in rapidly growing data warehouses, completed genomes of chicken, fish and cows are available but are largely stored in decentralized data repositories. In this paper, we provide an informatics primer on farm animal bioinformatics and genome project resources which drive attention to the most recent advances in the field. We hope to provide individuals in biotechnology and in the farming industry with information on resources and updates concerning farm animal genome projects.
