Research of soil compaction process in area of contact with a wheel mover

Abstract: Practice of operating heavy wheeled machines (T-150K, K-700, K-701) and experimental data show that even if the average pressure of a wheel on soil is maintained, degree of its compaction increases. To explain this phenomenon, in our opinion, it is necessary to develop a mathematical model of interaction process of a deformable pneumatic with an elastic-plastic medium, which is considered to be soil subject to modern processing. Working parts of agricultural machines process a wide variety of materials, number… Show more

“…Pre-sowing rolling is carried out to retain moisture in the soil, crush large clods of earth and partially level the field surface. Rolling the soil before sowing breaks up large clods of earth and compacts too loose soil (Kokieva et al, 2021). This operation reduces the slippage of the seeder support wheels, which increases the uniformity of sowing and stabilizes the depth of seed placement (Jia et al, 2016;Liu et al, 2022).…”

“…Of the model parameters, inflation pressure had the greatest influence on vertical stress, followed by tire load and speed. And the prediction equation can be used to preliminary estimate the soil compaction, which directly affects the sustainability of agriculture [2,8].…”

“…The portion of the tire in contact with the supporting surface is called "contact area", and it transmits the forces developed between the tire and the ground [1]. Field driving and field tilling with heavy machines contribute to soil compaction and soil shearing and reduce the availability of oxygen, water, nutrients, and heat to the soil [2,3]. This affects the environment and the sustainable development of agriculture by increasing N 2 O, CH 4 , and CO 2 emanation from faded soils, such as accelerating global climate warming and guaranteeing food security [4,5].…”
