Abstract:Necrotizing sialometaplasia (NS) is defined as a benign, self-limiting inflammatory condition of tissues related to salivary gland. It accounts for less than 1percent of total of biopsied oral lesions. Necrotizing sialometaplasia (NS) has a very good prognosis. Ischemia owing to trauma is the most common cause of necrotizing sialometaplasia, which is a perfectly benign lesion. With or without biopsy, the lesions heal on their own.
