Robust controller design for the excavator swing system under the active regulating common pressure rail

Abstract: In this paper, a new kind of rule called Active Regulating Common Pressure Rail (ARCPR) for hydraulic system is presented. Especially, the main focus is to improve the control performance for the swing hydraulic system with the parametric uncertainties and time delay effect caused by employing ARCPR. Firstly, the traditional CPR is introduced and the energy saving potential is analyzed. Then, the mathematical model of the displacement regulating system and swing driving system is presented. Moreover, the displ… Show more

“…This is because the control angle d not only determines the pressure difference between the adjacent ports but also changes the geometric flow rate q g at the transition regions. According to equation (1), the increase of the geometric flow rate q g will cause the pressure to increase in the piston chamber. When the pressure difference between the two adjacent ports on the valve plate does not match the pressure change in the piston chamber, the pressure spike will occur.…”

“…The maximum and minimum values reach 9.5 and 0.1 MPa, respectively, at n = 1500 r/min, while the pressure variations are smooth at both 1000 and 500 r/min. According to equation (1), the geometric flow rate q g is proportional to the rotating speed, when the rotating speed exceeds the capability of the damping grooves, the pressure undershoots and overshoots become serious accordingly. Therefore, the maximum rotating speed should be limited to avoid serious pressure spikes, especially at small control angles as discussed before.…”
