Although eco-innovation in the agri-food sector is receiving increasing amounts of attention, there is a lack of information about the specific conditions that encourage firms to develop eco-innovation strategies internally. Our empirical method relies on the data of Spanish firms operating in the agri-food sector, and uses the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). Specifically, we identify the recipes of antecedent conditions that effectively foster the internal development of technological eco-innovation, and then we analyze whether differences exist in the internal development of product and process eco-innovations. The results show that different combinations of conditions can yield internally developed eco-innovation, but all of them indicate that cooperation with stakeholders is the key to fostering technological eco-innovation in this industry. This conclusion encourages the creation of policies and incentives to promote cooperation in order to improve the sustainability of the sector.

PurposeBased on the attention-based view (ABV), this study examines the mechanism of external pressure and internal managerial interpretation affecting the promotion of green entrepreneurial orientation (GEO) of agricultural enterprises.Design/methodology/approachBased on data collected from 208 agricultural enterprises in China, the conceptual model was tested by using hierarchical regression.FindingsThe results show that managerial interpretation can affect the promotion of GEO. Command and control regulation, market-based regulation and green market pressure are important external pressures that affect the promotion of GEO. In addition, managerial interpretation mediates the relationship between command and control regulation and GEO, market-based regulation and GEO, as well as green market pressure and GEO.Practical implicationsThis study proposes a key path for promoting the adoption and implementation of GEO by agricultural enterprises. The research results provide experience for emerging and developing countries to promote the GEO of agricultural enterprises, which is helpful to alleviate the environmental problems caused by the development of agricultural enterprises.Originality/valueFor the first time, this study introduced the ABV into the research of GEO. The research results enrich the theoretical perspective of GEO and expand the research field of the ABV. In addition, this study fills the research gap that existing research has not paid enough attention to the internal driving factors of GEO and opens the black box between the external pressure and GEO.

O agronegócio, importante setor da economia, tem despertado o interesse da academia, implicando em uma gama de produções científicas que podem gerar conhecimento para o campo das ciências agrárias e diversas outras áreas. Este estudo teve como objetivo investigar o comportamento da literatura científica internacional sobre o agronegócio, a fim de poder pautar os temas que estão emergindo. Para tanto, utilizou-se da técnica de análise de dados bibliométrica, conduzida em uma das principais bases indexadoras, a Web of Science(WoS), por meio dos softwares EndNote e CiteSpace. Fez-se uma revisão da literatura, identificando 787 trabalhos publicados entre os anos de 1945 a 2020. Constatou-se crescimento significativo na produção acadêmica em torno da pauta do agronegócio. A partir de 2007, Brasil e Estados Unidos (EUA) foram os países com maior quantidade de publicações sobre o tema, com destaque para a maior diversidade de periódicos que publicaram sobre o tema. Cada vez mais o agronegócio vem sendo estudado de maneira transdisciplinar, com pluralidade de temas atrelados a ele, tais como inovação, performance, administração estratégica, desenvolvimento e sustentabilidade. O desenvolvimento econômico e ambiental, pautado por tópicos de sustentabilidade, das suas mais variadas matrizes, vêm ascendendo consideravelmente. Concluiu-se que pesquisas sobre o agronegócio se encontram em expansão, em diferentes áreas do conhecimento, permitindo compreender que tal conceito, sustentado pela imagem de rede, está cada vez menos condicionado à agricultura de maneira isolada, e sim à sua cadeia produtiva. O artigo ainda conta com uma figura que resume a agenda de estudos futuros.
