“…These complexes can be very important to develop the medicinal chemistry of bioorganometallic complexes as metal based photocytotoxic agents 90 . Two ruthenium-arene complexes containing curcuminoid ligands (η6-p-cymene) Ru(CUR)Cl-CUR -thiophene aromatic curcuminoids have been synthesized by Lei et al 91 . The complexes were evaluated for their in vitro antiproliferative activities against Hela human cervical epithelioid cancer, as well as BEL-7404 and SMMC-7721 human liver cancer cell lines.…”

“…We report the chemical characterization and in vitro antitumor activity on 5 tumor cell lines of related complexes where the curcumin-like ligands are less polar than the parent compound. Other investigators have studied Ru complexes of curcumin modified at its aromatic rings by thiophene moieties [38], in contrast with our ligands that conserve the entire curcumin structural skeleton. Curcumin, HCurcI and HCurcII ligands also are studied in the same cell lines for comparison.…”

“…Inspired by these facts, we investigated the interaction between a novel Ru(II) arene complex with curcumin analogs and ctDNA using viscosity measurement, the DNA melting technique, multispectroscopic techniques and electrochemical methods. Herein, a novel Ru(II) arene complex with curcumin analogs [( η 6 ‐ p ‐cymene)Ru(thiophene aromatic curcuminoids)Cl]Cl, which shows lower IC 50 values than other Ru(II) arene complex with curcumin analogs , was chosen. This study will help us to better understand the interaction mechanism between Ru(II) arene complex with curcumin analogs and ctDNA and will provide valuable information on the biological influences of these Ru(II) anticancer drugs in organisms.…”
