Scientometric Analysis of Medicinal and Edible Plant Coptis

Abstract: Objective: A scientometric analysis to obtain knowledge mapping of Coptis revealed the current research situation, knowledge base and research hotspots in Coptis research.Methods:Coptis-related documents published from 1987 to 2020 were selected through the Web of Science Core Collection. CiteSpace, VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel were used to construct knowledge maps of the Coptis research field. Results: A total of 367 documents and their references were analyzed. These papers were primarily published in mainla… Show more

“…Therefore, a bibliometric analysis was performed for scientists to systematically review the nephrotoxicity research studies. Bibliometric analysis ( Chen, 2004 ) is used to track developments and explore particular areas of knowledge in medicine fields ( Lu et al, 2020 ; Dong et al, 2021 ; Huang et al, 2021 ; Zhu et al, 2021 ) using CiteSpace ( Chen, 2006 ) and VOSviewer ( Waltman, 2007 ) software. Notably, we intended to visually analyze nephrotoxicity research hotspots through the bibliometric approach to make suggestions and further perspective.…”

“…In the VOSviewer density graph, the color of the nodes represents the density of the parameter. The darker the color, the more frequently the parameter appears ( Huang, et al, 2021 ; Wu, et al, 2021a ; Wu, et al, 2021b ).…”

“…In addition, it can be used to compare the contributions of different countries, institutions, journals, and authors ( Ke, et al, 2020 ). Currently, various visualization tools, such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and HistCite have been developed to create knowledge maps and are widely used in multiple scientific research fields, including the medical field ( Chen, et al, 2021 ; Huang, et al, 2021 ). Given the emergence of MDR bacteria and the importance of natural products in antibiotic drug discovery, numerous studies have been performed in recent years ( Hashem and Salem, 2022 ; Moore, et al, 2017 ; O’Connell, et al, 2013 ; Rossiter, et al, 2017 ).…”

“…The herbal medicine riches in alkaloids, like berberine, palmatine, worenine, magnoflorine, coptisine, atrorrhizine, and Article Related Abbreviations: CDI, 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole; HPAC, high-performance affinity chromatography; MTS, molecularly targeted screen; PPARγ, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma epiberberine [3][4]. Nowadays, these alkaloids are proved to be the main ingredients responsible for the bioactivity of herbal medicine [5]. For instance, berberine, the most abundant alkaloid in Huanglian, has hypoglycemic, antiinflammatory, antipathogen, and antibacterial effects, as well as positive muscle strength effects and negative frequency on the myocardium [5].…”

“…Nowadays, these alkaloids are proved to be the main ingredients responsible for the bioactivity of herbal medicine [5]. For instance, berberine, the most abundant alkaloid in Huanglian, has hypoglycemic, anti‐inflammatory, antipathogen, and antibacterial effects, as well as positive muscle strength effects and negative frequency on the myocardium [5]. Hence, the potential of herbal medicine as a source to find bioactive compounds as possible therapeutic agents becomes rational.…”
