Fluorine‐phosphate copolymerization waterborne acrylic resin coating with enhanced anticorrosive performance

Abstract: The modified waterborne acrylic resin was synthesized successfully by emulsion polymerization with octafluoropentyl methacrylate and phosphate functional monomer as monomers, showing an improved anti‐corrosion performance of the resin coating. The existence and general distribution of the elements of the modified monomer in the emulsion were explored, and the anti‐corrosion mechanism was disclosed. The results show that the modification of octafluoropentyl methacrylate and phosphate functional monomers improve… Show more

“…And Figure c shows the relationship between surface energy, WCA, hexadecane contact angle (called OCA), and fluorination time, and the corresponding data are summarized in Table S5. It can be seen that the value of the WCA gradually increases with the continuous increase of the fluorination time until the fluorination time reaches 8 h, and a superhydrophobic state with a WCA of 153.6° appears. As the fluorination time continues to increase, it can be seen that the value of the WCA does not fluctuate much, indicating that the PFDT load has reached saturation at this time.…”

“…In general, various high-performance resins can serve as carrier materials for ECAs. Here, epoxy (type E44) was used as the resin to fabricate ECAs. Epoxy resin is a high-performance resin that plays essential roles in adhesives and matrix resins for composites and circuit boards, packaging and aircraft/aerospace components, etc. Micron-sized silver flakes are the primary conductive filler for fabricating ECAs because of their excellent conductivity and stability.…”

“…Polymer latexes are polymer particles that are dispersed in water and are widely used in the coating industry along with other applications as a water born composites, , particularly as paper and paperboard coatings. For example, non-biodegradable polymers (e.g., styrene–butadiene latexes) are widely used for such purposes, but they are neither biodegradable nor recyclable. , Compostable polylactide (PLA) latex has been tested as a coating material for paper substrates, but these coated papers do not biodegrade in soil or marine environments.…”
