“…Of the studies that reported the sex of the participants ( n = 32, 62.7%) [5, 21, 22, 3136, 3842, 44, 4649, 5254, 5760, 65, 67, 68, 70, 71], 23 (71.8%) [5, 3133, 35, 38, 4042, 44, 4649, 55, 57, 58, 60, 65, 67, 68, 70, 71] used a male-dominated sample. In the 23 studies (45%) that provided information on age [5, 21, 22, 3234, 36, 38, 39, 41, 42, 44, 46, 48, 52, 55, 5760, 65, 67, 68], the mean age of the participants ranged from 43 ± 14 [45] to 77 ± 7 years [54]. Stroke was predominantly ischemic and in a chronic phase in all studies that provided this information ( n = 12, 23.5%; Table 1) [3133, 39, 40, 42, 47, 48, 55, 57, 67, 68].…”

“…Additionally, if the aim is to measure health status, specific questions should be used. Some QoL/HRQoL instruments have some SRH-specific questions, such as the first and second items of SF-36 [41]. However, the total scores of QoL/HRQoL instruments cannot be used as SRH measures.…”

“…Stroke is a growing health concern due to the aging population, and at the same time, more patients are surviving stroke as a result of improved treatment and stroke care, indicating that stroke should be viewed as a chronic disease rather than as a single, neurological incident. 1 Those surviving a stroke often suffer from residual functional disabilities, emotional problems, and cognitive deficits, and more insight is needed on how patients experience life after stroke and how to improve long-term care. 2 A Scottish study (n = 28) indicated that cognition was one of the most prioritized research areas on life after stroke.…”

“…Ischemic cerebral infarction is a major cause of disability and mortality in adults worldwide (Shigematsu et al, 2015;Jönsson et al, 2018). Although patients are carefully screened to minimize bleeding risk before administration of intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) according to the contraindications set forth in clinical guidelines, post-thrombolytic intracerebral hemorrhage is almost inevitable and potentially fatal in 7-8% of patients (Szekely et al, 2018).…”
