Segmentale motorische Paresen beim Zoster*

Abstract: Schliack, Schneider: Segmentale motorische Paresen beim Zoster I 86i Segmententsprechende Muskelparesen sind beim Zoster häufig zu finden. Show more

“…The location and thus the proportion of cranial manifestation of herpes zoster were not recorded in this study [15]. Statements in the literature on the frequency of segmental paresis diverge greatly from each other, which may be due to the fact that some pareses are not clinically prominent or involve muscles that are difficult to assess clinically [3]. Among the 1210 patients with herpes zoster recorded by Thomas and Howard the proportion of the 61 patients with segmental paresis was 5 % [16].…”

“…Among the 1210 patients with herpes zoster recorded by Thomas and Howard the proportion of the 61 patients with segmental paresis was 5 % [16]. In contrast, Schliack and Schneider detected muscular involvement in 27 of 140 patients, a frequency of 19.3 % [3]. The occurrence of herpes zoster in the head and neck region is reported as 13-35 % [4].…”

“…Less well known is that this viral infection also caused muscle paralysis, in a not insignificant number of patients [1,[5][6][7][10][11][12], The purpose of this communication is to describe two such patients.…”
