“…The crystal was cooled to room temperature for 16 h after the end of crystal growth, and the platinum crucible was peeled off and removed from the crystal. The growth apparatus and detailed growth conditions have been reported previously [7]. The crystallized phases around the grown crystal were evaluated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) using JXA-8621MX (JEOL).…”

“…The experimental results showed that a slightly Ga-rich composition, in which the ratio of Ga 2 O 3 was 0.2 mol% higher than that of the stoichiometric one, may be optimal as a raw material [6]. Using such raw material, a colorless and transparent LGS crystal 1 in in diameter was successfully grown by the VB method in an Ar atmosphere without any other phase crystallization [7]. Higher resistivity was also obtained for the VB-LGS crystal grown in an Ar atmosphere than for that grown in air [7].…”

“…the reddish coloration of the samples is intensified with the annealing temperature). The red coloration of the crystals from the langasite family is related to point defects involving oxygen [14][15][16].…”

“…After the raw materials had melted completely, the crucible was pulled down at a rate of 0.5 mm/h, and the crystals were grown by directional solidification in air. The growth apparatus and detailed growth conditions have been reported previously [10]. The crystal was cooled to room temperature for 16 hours after the completion of the crystal growth, and the platinum crucible was peeled away and removed from the crystal.…”
