Size distribution of FeNiB nanoparticles

Abstract: Abstract. Two samples of amorphous nanoparticles FeNiB, one of them with SiO 2 sheath around the core and one without, were investigated by transmission electron microscopy and magnetic measurements. The coating gives mean particle diameters of 4.3 nm compared to 7.2 nm for the uncoated particles. Magnetic measurements prove superparamagnetic behaviour above 160 K (350 K) for the coated (uncoated) sample.
