“…After birth, the percentage of Type-I fibers increased in several skeletal muscles of pig and dog, which is likely the consequence of a pronounced changeover from developmental to adult MHC isoforms (Suzuki and Cassens, 1980;Lefaucheur et al, 1995;Š trbenc et al, 2006). Late-age effect on the transformation of adult MHC isoforms was described in different horse breeds by Roneus et al (1991) and Rivero et al (1993) using histochemistry. They established that the percentage of MHC-I and -IIa fibers increased and that of MHCIIx decreased in horse gluteus medius muscle up to the age of 6 years.…”
