Solubility of hydrogen in well-defined coal liquids

Abstract: limited number of experimental measurements it is impossible for us to conclude which of these explanations Is most probable. Recent vapor pressure measurements by Grant et al. (2) on 7-butyrolactone + isooctane mixtures do suggest very weak specific Interactions between 7-butyrolactone molecules. Although the vapor pressure data could be described by a monomer/pentamer association model, the authors cautioned that their results did not definitively prove the existence of pentameric species In solution. As in… Show more

“…One molecular-weight measurement was made using gel-permeation chromatography as described by Rodgers et al (1987) The other molecular-weight measurement was made using mass spectroscopy. Additional characterization data for the SRC samples are given by Harrison et al (1985). Appendix A shows a sample calculation for converting raw characterization data from Rodgers et al (1987) to the characterization parameters needed in Equation 4.…”

“…Shale oil has received attention due to the large quantities of oil shale present in deposits around the world 28 . It has been estimated that 4.7·10 12 barrels of oil could be produced from these resources 29 , but economic and environmental challenges have limited its production. And yet, shale oil industries exist in several countries, including Brazil, China and Estonia.…”

“…Experimental data for hydrogen solubility exists for a number of pure compounds 3 , including polar oxygenated compounds such as phenols 4,5 , alcohols 4, , ketones 7,[27][28][29] , esters 30,31 and organic acids 7,11,31 . Data also exists for many different fuels, including heavy oil samples [32][33][34][35] , straight run gasoil 36 , naphtha reformate 37 , light naphtha 38 , coal liquids [39][40][41][42][43][44][45] , creosote oil 46 and bio oils [47][48][49][50] . Data was also found for white oils 51,52 .…”
