“…Our results, (highest RBC, haemoglobin, hematocrit and CHbCM values in light lambs and in all blood sampling times considered) contrasted with other studies which showed highest values in some of these parameters in younger animals, such as Vengust et al (2002) in fallow deer for haemoglobin and CHbCM levels. According to our results and other studies, it seems that the differences due to age depend on the animal species, in agreement with the results found by Peinado et al (1999) which found that young deer and fallow deer showed higher hematocrit and haemoglobin levels than older animals, while in red deer the higher hematocrit and haemoglobin concentrations were found in older animals.…”
