“…This technique has been successfully applied to prepare some nano-structural delivery carriers for medicines (Cirri, Bragagni, & Mennin, 2012;Grinberg et al, 2009). Furthermore, the ultrasonic treatment can be used to modify the physical, functional and even structural properties of many proteins, including SPI, possibly due to the effects related to cavitation, heating, dynamic agitation, shear stresses and turbulent (Arzeni et al, 2012;Hu et al, 2013;Jambrak, Lelas, Mason, Krešić, & Badanjak, 2009;Tang, Wang, Yang, & Lin, 2009).…”

“…Suslick and Grinstaff [7] have carried out the pioneering work on the ultrasonic synthesis of protein microspheres. Then, the sonochemical method was widely used to form protein microspheres encapsulating the nonaqueous liquid [8], the tetracycline [9], the Taxol (an anticancer drug) [10], the Gemcitabine (an anticancer drug) [11], etc. But the core of the protein microspheres synthesized by this method is liquid, and using sonochemical method to prepare MPMS with the solid core was rarely reported.…”

“…Suslick and coworkers previously showed that sonochemically‐fabricated Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) microspheres form core‐shell microspheres whose outer protein shell is stabilized by interprotein covalent disulfide cross‐linking of cysteine residues . In our previous works this sonochemical method was applied for preparation of BSA microspheres and encapsulation of antibiotic and anticancer drugs . The drug release from the microspheres was suggested to occur mainly due to proteases available at the target environment that degraded the microspheres matrix.…”
