Spatial variability modeling and reliability analysis of flexible pavement through mechanistic–empirical model

Abstract: Purpose The present study aims to demonstrate the performance assessment of flexible pavement structure in probabilistic framework with due consideration of spatial variability modeling of input parameter. Design/methodology/approach The analysis incorporates mechanistic–empirical approach in which numerical analysis with spatial variability modeling of input parameters, Monte Carlo simulations (MCS) and First Order Reliability Method (FORM) are combined together for the reliability analysis of the flexible … Show more

“…The Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide equation is one of the most common methods used to estimate pavement roughness based on different input variables. This technique includes the transfer function and regression equation to calculate pavement performance indicators such as pavement roughness and distresses (Srivastava et al , 2019). The regression analysis approach was adopted by many researchers for the development of pavement roughness models due to the simplicity of implementation, ease of use and the ability to study the effect of different types of parameters on pavement roughness.…”

“…The so-called colored asphalt pavement refers to the color asphalt mixture made by mixing the decolorized asphalt and different colorants, and the construction forms the colored asphalt pavement with certain strength and road performance (Xing et al , 2018). Colored asphalt pavement can strengthen traffic management, facilitate traffic guidance and reduce the probability of traffic accidents (Srivastava et al , 2019; Liu and Sun, 2014; Lee et al , 1985). And the city is beautified, the traffic environment is improved, the colored asphalt pavement has become one of the important means to build a modern city.…”
