Objective: A simple and accurate stability indicating reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography method was developed and validated for the simultaneous estimation of phenylephrine and fexofenadine in pharmaceutical dosage forms.Methods: Chromatography was carried out on an Kromasil C-18 column (4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 µ particle size) with a isocratic mobile phase composed of ortho phosphoric acid buffer, acetonitrile, (75:25% v/v) at a flow rate of 1 mL/minutes. The column temperature was maintained at 30°C and the detection was carried out using a photodiode array detector at 210 nm. Results:The retention times for phenylephrine and fexofenadine were 2.156 minutes and 3.359 minutes, respectively. The percentage recoveries of phenylephrine and fexofenadine were 100.63% and 99.84%, respectively. The relative standard deviation for assay of tablets was found to be <2%. The detection and quantification limits were found to be 0.10 and 0.31 µg/mL for phenylephrine and 0.01 and 0.03 µg/mL for fexofenadine, respectively. Conclusion:Thus, the method was fast, accurate, precise, and sensitive; hence, it can be employed for routine quality control of tablets containing both drugs in quality control laboratories and pharmaceutical industries.

A sensitive and specific luminescence method for the determination of Fexofenadine (FEX), in pharmaceutical formulations is reported. The method is based on the sensitization of terbium (Tb 3+ ) by complex formation with FEX. The luminescence signal for Tb-FEX complex is greatly enhanced by the addition of triethylamine (ET 3 N) and zinc nitrate in methanol solution.Monitoring of the signal is accomplished when the instrument is in the phosphorescence mode with the excitation and emission wavelengths set at k ex = 220 nm and k em = 550 nm respectively. Optimum conditions for the formation of the complex in methanol were 2.25 · 10 À6 M of Tb 3+ , 5.00 · 10 À6 M of Et 3 N and Zn 2+ which allows for the determination of 10-800 ppb of FEX in the batch mode with a detection limit of 0.3 ppb. The proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of FEX in pharmaceutical formulations. ª 2015 The Authors. An innovative, simple, accurate, sensitive, and eco‐friendly synchronous fluorescence spectrofluorimetric method has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of montelukast sodium (MON) and fexofenadine hydrochloride (FEX). The method relies on measuring the relative synchronous fluorescence intensity of both drugs using Δλ of 60 nm in methanol at 405 nm for MON and 288 nm for FEX. The experimental parameters influencing the developed method were investigated and optimized. The method was linear over the ranges 0.1–2.0 and 2.0–20.0 μg/ml for MON and FEX, respectively. The limits of detection were 0.018 and 0.441 μg/ml, and the limits of quantitation were 0.055 and 1.336 μg/ml for MON and FEX, respectively. The developed method was applied successfully for the determination of the two drugs in their newly released fixed‐dose combination prescribed for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. The mean per cent recoveries were found to be 100.680 ± 0.890 and 100.110 ± 0.940 for MON and FEX, respectively. Furthermore, the method was found to be eco‐friendly green as was evaluated according to the Green Analytical Procedure Index tool guidelines and analytical eco‐scale.
