Cooperative learning is considered one of the most effective learning methods to improve students’ language skills. Reading is an essential language skill for students in language learning. Therefore, this study was aimed at improving reading comprehension through cooperative learning. The result data showed that the score in each cycle improved significantly. The grand mean of the first cycle was 78.26, and 85.22 in the second. The grand mean score of the first and second cycles is much higher than the mean score of the initial reflection. Moreover, the questionnaire result showed comparative percentages of 41.62%, 41.62%, 16.76%, and 0% for items A, B, C, and D, respectively. The questionnaire results indicated that most of the students were actively engaged in learning reading comprehension. Therefore, this study implies that lecturers should utilize the cooperative learning method more intensively in teaching English.

The purpose of this research is to improve students’ speaking ability using a turn-taking strategy, The design of this research is classroom action research, this research uses two cycles, and each cycle has some stages, such as planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data analysis of this research used tests and observation. The result of this research is the students’ self-confidence was increased, the students’ communication was improved, and the students decreased their mother tongue use. It can be seen from the score of each test. Additionally, the score of the students increased in each cycle, in cycle 1 when the researcher do the speaking test, the student’s score was 73, which means that the students still got under the standard score. In cycle 2 the students’ score was 80, which means that the students got a high score. Thus, it can be concluded that the turn-taking strategy was an appropriate strategy to improve students’ speaking ability at MAN 1 Mataram.

Language is all about communication and the people they communicate with most are their friends and family. Language is a system for communicating with others using sounds, symbols, and words in conveying meanings, ideas, or propositions. This study is going to have qualitative research implementing a case study as the methodology of research. It aims to know about something in-depth, focusing on a single unit, such as one individual, one group, one organization, or one program. For more intensive research and better results. The number of respondents is 35 students. The instrument of the research is as follows observation checklist, questionnaire, test, and interview. the pupils were exposed to novel experiences, such as technology integration, which heightened their enthusiasm. Second, instructors' preparations from creating the learning process to presenting some answers to the issues experienced by previous group discussion implementers until the evaluation before the learning program began all contributed to the learning process's success. Third, after their projects were completed, the students' improvement in speaking abilities and other related skills may have been prompted by the input in English and topic materials they received from their teachers, as well as their learning from a variety of sources. Fourth, by their hands-on participation in completing the job, students gained many exposures to English through meaningful interactions with actual information. As a result, it may be concluded that group discussion is valuable for instructors to use in the classroom, particularly in EFL learners.
