Studies on 4f-metal(III) complexes of N-thiophene-2-carboxamidosalicylaldimine

Abstract: Almraet. N-(thiophene-2-carboxamido) salicylaldimine (H2TCS) reacts with lanthanide chlorides in the presence of KOH to give complexes of the type K(Ln(TCS)2 ] [Ln = La(IlI), Pr(lll), Nd(III), Sm(lll), Eu(III), Gd(lll) and Dy(IIl)]. A tentative structure for these complexes has been suggested on the basis of molar conductance, TGA and DTA, magnetic" susceptibility, electronic, infrared and 1H and laC NMR data. The nephelauxetic ratio (~), covalency ( 6) and bonding parameter (b1/2) have been calculated from th… Show more

“…[ 1–3 ] Due to their flexibility, selectivity, and sensitivity toward the central metal atom, as well as structural similarities with natural biological compounds and the existence of an imine group (N=CH) that confers biological activity, [ 4 ] these compounds have been intensively researched. [ 1–8 ] Novel (Z)‐2‐(pyrrolidin‐2‐ylidene) hydrazinecarbothioamide (L) was prepared in a good product by the reaction of pyrrolidone with thiosemicarbazide. [ 4 ]…”

“…Thiosemicarbazones have been applied as drugs and are reported to possess a wide diversity of biological effective against tumors, microbial, parasital, viral agents, structural diversity, and ion‐sensing ability, and they are also a beneficial model for biological inorganic processes.
