Studies on Synthesis of Aldimines: Part-I. Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Activity of Aldimines from Benzaldehyde with variedly substituted anilines

Abstract: A conventional condensation reaction of an aromatic aldehyde, Benzaldehyde with seven different aromatic amines viz. Aniline, 2-Choro-aniline, 3-Choro-aniline, 4-Choro-aniline, 2-Nitro-aniline, 3-Nitro-aniline and 4-Nitro-aniline and reacted efficiently to synthesize a series of Aldmines, I to VII, in moderate to high yield and high purity. The reaction was monitored and the products were analyzed by employing the TLC technique. All the products obtained were characterized by their colour, physical constant, T… Show more

“…Taken together with the decrease in aldehyde groups and the appearance of C=N groups, these results can demonstrate the formation of acylhydrazone bonds in hydrogels through the covalent reaction of aldehyde groups in OHA and hydrazine groups in HA-ADH, confirming the successful formation of hydrogels. Similar results were also found by others [ 26 , 39 ]. The 1 H NMR spectrum was applied to confirm the synthesis of HA-ADH.…”

“…The anti-fungal activity of the synthesized lactozepine was examined in vitro as a growth inhibitor against Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger by the agar well distribution method at limited concentrations. The results were compared with the results of the other antibiotics (such as Fluconazole and Iitraconazole) under the selected concentrations (shown in Table 4) as a positive control and the solvent (DMSO) as a negative control [14,15]. The anti-bacterial activity of lactozepine was evaluated against three types of pathogenic bacteria using the method of well diffusion on Mueller Hinton Agar dishes.…”

“…From our lab we have reported few studies on the characterization and biological studies [15][16][17] and chemical oxidation kinetics [18][19][20] of ketimines as well. Recently, we have communicated 21 the conventional synthesis of Aldimines from benzaldehyde and amines. Herein we reports the comparative study between aldimine and ketimine for the yield, purity and characterization employing the conventional and microwave(green) method along with the biological studies on the products formed.…”
