Abstract: Background: Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is a reliable as well as an inexpensive diagnostic method. It is suitable for the developing countries for the diagnosis of lymphadenopathy at any approachable site. Fine needle aspiration cytology not only confirms the presence of metastatic disease but also, in most cases, gives the clue regarding the origin of the primary tumor, prognosis as well in the management of patient for staging purposes. “…of cases was metastatic squamous cell carcinoma, followed by duct carcinoma breast in present study. Our findings correlated with other studies of Wilkinson et al, Pandav AB et al and mandakini et al 7,9,10 The incidence of metastasis was more in males (73.1%) as compared to females (26.8%), with male to female ratio 2.6:1. Male preponderance was noted in our study, which correlates with other studies of Khajuria et al and Pandav AB et al 8,9 This may be because of decreased incidence of various addictions in females.…”

“…Lymph node aspirates in 28 cases (10.4%) showed metastatic deposits. This is in correlation with the studies by Patel et al, Ghartimagar et al and Bhavani et al where metastatic deposits were seen in 27.06%, 18% cases and 9.5% respectively [27,28,29]. Most of the metastatic deposits were from squamous cell carcinoma arising commonly in the tongue, alveolus, buccal mucosa, palate and from lung followed by adenocarcinoma.…”
