Study of some Characteristics of Tigris River Between Mosul City and Hamam Al – Aleel Provice

Abstract: This study was conducted on the river Tigris between Albo-Sayf and Hammam Al-Aleel, on four positions stretching along the river for eight months started from November 2010 to June 2011. The study concluded measurement of some biological factors. The results showed that the dissolved oxygen value ranged between (2.63-813) mg/L, the minimum value was recorded at station of Albo-Sayf at downstream Mosul city at November while maximum value recorded on station 4 Hamam Al-Aleel at April. The range value of biologi… Show more

“…Liter. All phosphate results were below the permissible limit for river water, which is 0.4 mg/L, as it was between 0.119-0.222 mg/L, which is similar to [7], where it was 0.07-0.482 mg/L, as well as to the result of [26], which was 0.21-1.25 mg/L. The values of sulfate ranged between 12.97-109.97 mg/L, noting that the international standards are 25-250 mg/L.…”

“…The values of sulfate ranged between 12.97-109.97 mg/L, noting that the international standards are 25-250 mg/L. The reason for the decrease is the low solubility of sulfate in water [13], and the result was close to the study [21], which was 72 -80.2 mg/L and also for [26] which was 74-114 mg/L and for [5] which was 24-59 mg/L. As for the residual chlorine values, they were completely free of chlorine for all tests due to technical problems at the plant, except for the month of November, when it was 2 mg/L in the plant tank and 0.3 mg/L in two villages.…”

“…It can be concluded that the higher concentration of PAHs in fish gills and muscle was recorded at S3 may be due to presence of urban activities like factory waste and another population activities comparing with S1 and S2. Same phenomena found in AlGharraf River/ThiQar(1) and Tigris river (7,17) . This indicated that the study area was generally contaminated with PAHs and continuous consumption of food from this area may pose public health hazards, therefore should be preventing the various kinds of industrial and domestic contaminants to be discharged into the River.…”

“…This size of grain is suitable for absorption with ensures that the particles remain completely and did not dissolved or passes with water through contact to treatment. Water samples were collected from water sources for municipal uses in Mosul city, from artesian wells with different characteristics in addition to surface water from Tigris river and Al-Khoser small river to analytic the physical , chemical , and heavy metals concentrations [16]. Then treated with IOP Publishing doi:10.1088/1755-1315/1215/1/012050 3 stone seeds ,to improve its qualities in relation to the high concentration which is undesirable.…”
