Surface Tension of Cu – Bi Alloys And Wettability in a Liquid Alloy – Refractory Material – Gaseous Phase System

Abstract: The study involved measurements of surface tension of liquid binary copper-bismuth alloys with respect to their chemical composition and temperature as well as investigations of the liquid alloy -refractory material -gaseous phase system wettability using usual refractory materials, i.e. aluminium oxide, magnesium oxide and graphite. The experiments were performed with the use of sessile drop method and a high-temperature microscope coupled with a camera and a computer was utilised. Keywords: surface tension, c… Show more

“…Normalized finegrained types of steel are characterised by the thigh mechanical properties, and due to a high carbon equivalent (higher content of manganese, and a presence of other elements) are more susceptible to harden in the HAz than low carbon types of steel [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. What is more, they are more exposed to form cold cracks [17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]. Thus, it is recommended to follow these rules:…”

“…Assuming that the metal wall that separates the exhaust gases and the air is not contaminated by deposits as well as when its insignificant thermal resistance is neglected, its temperature, T śc , can be calculated: (10) Calculations for the energy recovery system (Fig. 1) were performed with the use of software where computational algorithms for recuperators (presented in papers [10][11][12][13][14][15][16]) are applied. It was assumed that the air mass flows in all tubes of a specific module were balanced.…”

“…In composites of different types, the wetting of the reinforcement by the liquid matrix is crucial, which often requires modification of the liquid, even at the cost of other properties. 34,35 Exemplary magnified images of pure EPIDIAN 53 resin and resin + 1% of nanotubes are shown in Figure 4.…”
