Sustainable manufacturing systems – a simulation model

Abstract: Connecting companies to the paradigm of climate change leads to the creation of sustainable production systems. In this context, new approaches to processes allow the definition of sustainable manufacturing systems. The sustainability of manufacturing systems is an important aspect in order to insure the competitive power of enterprises. In this respect, the manufacturing systems must take into account economic factors, environmental concerns and social directions. Decisions regarding manufacturing development… Show more

“…Natural fiber-based composites contribute significantly to the transition of the polymer composite industry into greener-based materials. One of the main discussions in the scientific community has been around sustainability [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] and these fiber-reinforced polymer composites provide a plethora of material options. Composite materials are increasingly being used in manufacturing and engineering due to the potential of modifying or increasing their characteristics to achieve the required performance.…”

“…For example, the simulation models for the correct composition and structure of SMSs are known. Here, the optimal compositions between the efforts and the benefits within the production system can be highlighted, which also relate to the energy consumption and the CO 2 emissions [22]. In addition, there are known approaches for the strategic assessment of SMSs, which mainly refer to the risks and the simultaneous minimizations of these [23].…”
