Switched-Capacitor LLC Resonant DC-DC Converter With Switch Peak Voltage of Vin/2

Abstract: A DC-DC hybrid switched-capacitor LLC resonant converter integrating a ladder cell at the input of the LLC resonant converter using frequency modulation is proposed in this paper. This converter has six switches that are subjected to half the voltage of the input source. All switches commutate at zero voltage over the entire load range, and the diodes of the output rectifier bridge commutate at zero current. The proposed converter has the following characteristics: (a) symmetrical operation, (b) simple frequen… Show more

“…The present design is to add a small capacitor in parallel with the switching devices S 1 and S 2 to create a zero-voltage switching for reduction of switching loss. This is also known as soft-switching because the voltage is during the switching transition is zero and it is preferred switching method [26]. C 1 and C 2 are designed specifically so that it can activate the zero switching in a resonant manner and does not affect the current conversion characteristics of switched-inductor converter.…”

“…The grid current i g equals the input inductor current i L (i g = i L ), where i L = Σi Ln n ∈ {1, 2, 3, 4}, and the output voltage V o is determined by expression V o = Σv C j,k , j ∈ {1, 2} and k ∈ {A, B}. Therefore, the output variables matrix y results in expression (8).…”

“…The SCs allow increased voltage gain by means of diodecapacitor cells, that guarantees the voltage division on the semiconductors. It has been developed for numerous applications, such as LED systems [4], pulse generation [5], and high static gain systems [6], [7], among others [8]- [19].…”

“…The ladder cell [10] is an SC topology that is easy to integrate with other converters. It allows the creation of hybrid topologies with lower voltage stress on the components and spontaneous equalization of the voltage division and is used in non-isolated DC-DC converters [11]- [14] and in isolated DC-DC converters [15], [16].…”
