“…In such a method, films display well‐dispersed LDH platelets in the polymer matrix, leading to transparent composites even for high loadings (up to 50 wt%). Organically modified LDH with DDS were also incorporated into poly ( n ‐butyl acrylate‐ co ‐vinyl acetate) latexes by emulsion polymerization using potassium peroxodisulfate (KPS) as an initiator and PVA as a stabilizer . Interestingly, the cointercalation of DDS and various monomeric anions like (meth)acrylates, 4‐vinyl benzoate and 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐1‐propanesulfonate into LDH promoted LDH exfoliation by the in situ formation of polymer chains during the in situ emulsion polymerization of poly(butyl methacrylate) .…”

“…Among these, ammonium polyphosphate (APP) shows excellent flame retardant performance because of its lower loadings and cost, as well as good processability [2]. In addition, APP is halogen free, so it will not generate harmful gases during its use, which makes environmentally friendly compared with halogen-containing additives [19]. Some researchers have investigated the synergistic effect between LDH and APP; all composites can reach a UL-94 V-0 rating when incorporating APP in polymer/LDH systems [20,21,22,23].…”
