Bohne and co‐workers (Bohne, Story, Gerber, & Gollnick, ) initially showed that acitretin inhibits superoxide anion formation and a more recent work (Hadjipavlou‐Litina, Magoulas, Krokidis, & Papaioannou, ) proved the antioxidant properties of acitretin. In particular, the present study demonstrated that acitretin and its synthetic analogues significantly inhibit lipoperoxidation as well as lipoxygenase (LOX) activity.…”
