Synthesis and characterization of a strong-fluorescent Eu-containing hydrotalcite-like compound

Abstract: A novel strong-fluorescent Eu-containing hydrotalcite-like compound (Eu-HTlc) was synthesized using the coprecipitation method, in which aluminum(III) was partially substituted by Europium (III) in the hydrotalcite-like layers, and thenoyltrifluoroacetone, 1,10-phenanthroline were dispersed into the anions in the interlayer region. The sample was characterized by XRD, XPS, FT-IR, ICP, TG-DSC, TEM and fluorescence spectra, and its composition and structure were determined. The results indicated that the sample … Show more

“…7, HTas-NR and HTd-NR exhibit PL decay spectra intermediates between those of HTas and CdSe@CdS, thus con-rming the presence of two different environments in the hybrid nanomaterials. An analogous behavior was observed when uorescent molecules like chromophores [21][22][23] or lanthanide-based complexes 20,24 were impregnated or intercalated between the hydrotalcite layers.…”

“…20 So far, only uorescent molecules like chromophores, dyes, lanthanide-based complexes, or quantum nanocrystals were impregnated or intercalated between the hydrotalcite layers. [21][22][23][24] Nevertheless, the chromophore or QD guest species provide optical functions such as color, uorescence, and nonlinear (dyes) or a mixture of linear and nonlinear (QD) optical properties. [25][26][27][28] Unlike spherical nanoparticles, elongated and rod-shaped direct-band semiconductor nanocrystals, such as CdS, CdSe, or core-shell CdSe@CdS nanorods, possess a high photoluminescence quantum efficiency, 29 suppressed Auger recombination, 30 stimulated emission, 31 fast carrier relaxation, 32 and increased Stokes shi in photoluminescence.…”

“…When excited at 392 nm, all samples exhibit fluorescence emission peaks located at 595 nm, 613 nm, and 653 nm, revealing the well-known bands of europium red luminescence based on 5 D 0 → 7 F 1 , 5 D 0 → 7 F 2 , and 5 D 0 → 7 F 3 , respectively, similar to the case of the KH-550-Eu(TTA) 3 Phen-HTlc powder. 5 The PLE spectra of the EFHSNs were monitored at around 390 nm and closely matched the emission of an InGaN near-UV LED chip. It can be seen that the sample exhibits bright red color when under 365 nm UV illumination.…”

“…Secondly, the Eu-HTlc was prepared according to our previous work. 5 In addition, surface modification was carried out using silane coupling agent (3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, KH-550) to improve the dispersion of Eu-HTlc in SI. Thirdly, exfoliated KH550-Eu-HTlc was prepared using just SI as the processing solvent through ultrasound.…”
