Synthesis and characterization of a new nonlinear optical single crystal: L‐Lysinium trifluoroacetate

Abstract: Single crystals of a new L-Lysine salt: L-Lysinium trifluoroacetate {abbreviated as LLyTFA;+ CF 3 COO -} were grown by slow evaporation of an aqueous solution at room temperature. The grown crystals were subjected to single crystal X-ray diffraction, FTIR and UV-Vis-NIR spectrum analyses. The UV-Vis-NIR spectrum shows that the absorption is very less in the whole of the region from ultraviolet to near IR. The Kurtz-Perry powder SHG measurement using a Nd:YAG laser of wavelength 1064nm confirms the frequency do… Show more

“…This weight loss associated with a sharp endothermic peak in DTA trace at 253°C is attributed to the absorption of energy for breaking of bonds during the decomposition of the compound. From these studies, it is concluded that the crystal can retain its texture and the crystal application is restricted upto 159°C which is lesser than other semiorganic materials like zinc guanidinium sulfate (334°C) [8], L-arginine trifluoroacetate (215°C) [10] and L-lysinium trifluoroacetate (210°C) [13].…”

“…Several crystals composed of L-lysine with NLO properties have been grown and characterized [10][11][12]. The crystal structure [13] and growth of Llysinium trifluoroacetate (abbreviated as LLTF hereinafter) have been reported previously [14]. It belongs to the monoclinic crystallographic system, space group P2 1 , with cell parameters:…”
