I N THIS work, 5 thiazolidinone derivatives of the type 5-benzylidene -2-(1-piperidinyl)- (105) are synthesized and characterized using conventional tools analyses. They are tested as antioxidants for local base stock and the efficiency of these compounds, as antioxidants, was monitored through studying the change in total acid number and viscosity, the results reveal that the efficiency order is ranked as follows 105 < 104 < 103 <102 < 101. The quantum chemical parameters such as the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO), the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy levels and the energy gap (E HOMO -E LUMO ) were calculated. The experimental results were on the same line with the quantum chemical calculations.

In this paper, the dioctyl adipate (DIOA) and poly‐α‐olefin (PAO) were comparatively study to systematic evaluate the influence of high temperature oxidation on the molecular structure and performance of the base oil. Even the DIOA has better antioxidation properties, antioxidant could significantly reduce the molecular structure damage during high temperature oxidation for the both two kinds of base oils. Because the decrement of kinematic viscosity was slow down after antioxidant was added into the base oils, the kinematic viscosity ratio of DIOA and PAO is nearly 1.7 after oxidation at 300°C, which is down to 1.2 while antioxidant is applied. Based on the DSC analysis, the antioxidant could postpone the oxidation process of the PAO and DIOA oil samples and have longer oxidation induction time (17.5 and 35.1 min) and higher incipient oxidation temperature (262.3°C and 243.8°C), respectively. The oxidation induction time of DIOA is nearly twice (or triple) the value of PAO4, which suggests a much better antioxidation performance of DIOA. The GCMS results elucidate that the species and quantities of oxidation products are reduced simultaneously.

Dodatki detergentowo-dyspergujące są jednymi z najczę-ściej stosowanych substancji przeznaczonych do uszlachetniania paliw w celu poprawy ich właściwości eksploatacyjnych [3,7,14,15]. W przypadku benzyn silnikowych tego typu dodatki mogą stanowić jedyną substancję wprowadzoną do paliwa na etapie blendingu [5,9]. Cząsteczki dodatków detergentowych do paliw zbudowane są z długich łań-cuchów węglowodorowych połączonych z polarnymi grupami funkcyjnymi. Specyficzne właściwości powierzchniowe detergentów są skutkiem ich amfifilowej struktury, utworzonej przez hydrofilowe i hydrofobowe fragmenty cząste-czek. Głównym zadaniem dodatków detergentowo-dyspergujących jest zapobieganie tworzeniu się osadów na elementach silnika, takich jak: układy wtrysku, zawory dolotowe, zawory wylotowe, komory spalania. Mechanizm działania dodatków detergentowo-dyspergujących jest bardzo złożo-ny, jedna z teorii głosi, że związki powierzchniowo czynne obecne w paliwie przywierają do metalowych powierzchni silnika, zapobiegając w ten sposób przywieraniu osadów, natomiast według innej ich rola polega na dyspergowaniu osadów i zanieczyszczeń [13].W ostatnich latach obserwowany jest wzrost udziału etanolu w benzynach silnikowych. Wynika on z dążenia do zwięk-szenia w ogólnym bilansie paliw udziału surowców odnawialnych.
