Synthesis of Mesoporous Co2+-Doped TiO2 Nanodisks Derived from Metal Organic Frameworks with Improved Sodium Storage Performance

Abstract: TiO is a most promising anode candidate for rechargeable Na-ion batteries (NIBs) because of its appropriate working voltage, low cost, and superior structural stability during chage/discharge process. Nevertheless, it suffers from intrinsically low electrical conductivity. Herein, we report an in situ synthesis of Co-doped TiO through the thermal treatment of metal organic frameworks precursors of MIL-125(Ti)-Co as a superior anode material for NIBs. The Co-doped TiO possesses uniform nanodisk morphology, a la… Show more

“…Recently, tuning crystallographic structure of oxides to improve the diffusion and transport of electrolyte ions have become a hot research topic . Transition metal oxides have been traditionally used as anode materials for LIBs and SIBs, such as TiO 2 , Fe 3 O 4 ,, CuO,, NiCo 2 O 4 ,. Among various transition metal oxides, manganese oxide have attracted a great many attention for their different oxidation states of manganese, the low toxicity, the low cost, and superior safety .…”

“…As depicted by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) (Figure S10, Supporting Information), the hard carbon electrodes have a relative large resistance, and the low electricity may induce more side reactions. This phenomenon was also found in TiO 2 anode for NIBs …”

“…To date, several types of Na‐ion host anode materials have been demonstrated with acceptable capacity, mainly including alloy reaction material (Sn, Sb, and P), conversion‐type metal oxides and metal sulphides, Ti‐based intercalation compounds and carbonaceous materials . Metallic alloys and conversion‐type materials suffered from large volume expansion and poor electrochemical kinetics, while Ti‐based compounds display relatively low reversible capacity.…”

“…All of these indicate that Co,N‐HCNP exhibits excellent electrocatalytic activity toward ORR . Co 2+ ‐doped TiO 2 can be synthesized by carbonizing MIL‐125(Ti)‐Co as a precursor . In fact, these carbonization process are similar.…”
