Synthesis of polyurethane/clay nanocomposites based palm oil polyol coating

Abstract: In this study, we investigated the Polyurethane paint based on palm oil with the addition of nanoparticles montmorillonite as a heat-resistant. The composites with 1 wt%, 3 wt% and 5 wt% of bentonite filler content obtained by synthesizing in situ were investigated and compared to the neat polyurethane matrix material. The processing of bentonite for montmorillonite was done through several stages including: sedimentation, ultrasonication, dried, sieved with a 200 mesh sieve, then characterized. Untreated MMT … Show more

“…However, the high cost associated with the presently available MMCs remains a major barrier to their widespread use. Aluminium alloys reinforced with micro-ceramic particulates generally referred as Al-metal matrix composites (Al-MMCs) are gaining widespread attractiveness in several engineering fields due to their better mechanical and wear resistance properties compared to their unreinforced counterparts [6][7][8][9]. Nowadays, Al-MMCs are being used as base materials in several applications such as pistons, pushrods, cylinder liners, and brake discs.…”

“…The most used are the metal matrix composites (MMCs). The importance of composite is revealed by the truth that it is widely used for all sorts of industrial applications [12][13][14]. The difficulty in machining by EDM over a MMC has been sorted out by the use of powder mixed dielectric EDM (PMEDM).…”
