Temperature Performance Evaluation of Parabolic Dishes Covered with Different Materials in Iwo, Nigeria

Abstract: Solar radiation reaching the earth is considered to be affected by some parameters like diffusion. This radiation is reflected or scattered by air molecules, cloud and aerosols (dust). Parabolic dishes made of different materials (glass, foil and painted surface) were used to concentrate energy on a copper calorimeter filled with water. A thermometer was inserted in each of the copper calorimeter placed at the focus of the dishes. The experiment was performed from March to April (a period of five weeks), from … Show more

“…Though the reflector faces the sun, the cookware remains horizontal within the dish. The cross-section of the asymmetric reflector tilt angle between their axes may be as low as zero [28][29][30], Figure 3, Figures 4 and 5, demonstrate the characteristics of the sun's beam of light been reflected off a flat mirror. The incident ray hits the mirror at the incidence point, a line perpendicular to the mirror i.e.…”

“…Mohandes et al [3], Trajekovic et al [4], Reddy and Ranjan [5] have used artificial neural network (IA) technique to estimate the solar radiation. The more solar radiation, induces more evaporation of water molecules As reported by Aweda et al [6]. Aweda et al [7], demonstrated that seasonal effect on evaporation rate occurs as a result of the dry or wet temperature of the environment.…”

“…It may also be referred to as the aspects of the atmospheric state which is visible and experienced because of human [3]. At high temperatures, there will be more evaporation across any region [4]. The weather conditions of any given location are often described in terms of the meteorological elements which include the state of the sky, temperature, winds, pressure, precipitation, and humidity.…”
