Terahertz spectrum study of organic electro-optic crystal 4-N, N-dimethylamino-4'-N'-methyl-stilbazolium tosylate

Abstract: The ground-state structural optimization and the terahertz spectrum calculation of an organic electro-optical crystal of 4-N, N-dimethylamino-4'-N'-methyl-stilbazolium tosylate (DAST) are performed using dispersion-corrected density functional theory (DFT-D2). DAST consists of an organic pyridinium salt (cation), one of the most efficient non-linear optical active chromophores and a sulfonate (anion) for enhancing the stability of the noncentrosymmetric macroscopic crystal. Such an organic crystalline salt DAS… Show more

“…In contrast, the peaks at 88, 78, 58, and 38 cm −1 are ascribed to the translation modes of the cation-anion pair. We noted that some of these assignments, such as those at 206, 181, 158, 78, and 38 cm −1 , are accordance with those previously reported (Xu et al 2014;Vijayakumar et al 2009;Lian et al 2017;Cunningham and Hayden 2010). Furthermore, our simulations also revealed the origins of other peaks, including those at 272,265,239,165,158,140,113, and 88 cm −1 (Fig.…”
