The Assessment of Morphological Diversity of Colchicum luteum L., an Economically Important Threatened Medicinal Plant of Kashmir Himalaya

Abstract: Colchicum luteum L. is an economically important and endangered medicinal plant of the Kashmir Himalaya. The corm extract is used for the treatment of rheumatism, gout, Behcet’s syndrome, and Alzheimer disease. It is also used extensively in plant breeding programs for the doubling of chromosomes. The present study was carried out for two years (2017–2019) to study the genetic diversity of C. luteum, an economically important and endangered medicinal plant of Kashmir Himalaya. The mapping of genetic diversity … Show more

“…Seed was tested for viability using tetrazolium test (Khan et al, 2006). The Germination test was conducted using germination paper and the number of normal and abnormal seedlings and dead seeds were recorded on the 14 th day of sowing (Lacicowa, 1982;Rather et al, 2022a;). On the day of final count 10 normal seedlings from each replication were taken randomly and seedling length was measured from tip of leaf to the tip of root excluding the seed.…”

“…Different methods have been optimized to control and adequately utilize the waste, including extracting important nutrients from leachate. In third-world countries, the number of studies on food waste management is growing gradually (Filimonau and Delysia 2019 ; Rather et al et al 2022b ; Khan et al 2022 ). But, a few exceptions in analysis from the food service industries and national cuisines in most developing countries were excluded from it (Papargyropoulou et al 2019 ; Filimonau et al 2020 ).…”

“…The chemical cycling of trace metals is intricate due to the variety of factors (biotic and abiotic) involved in the manifestation of metal behavior, such as bio-chemical processes, hydrology, climatic factors, land use, and metal characteristics (Husain Mazhar et al, 2020;Khan et al, 2021). (Damian et al, 2019;Padder et al, 2021;Rather et al, 2022c;Padder et al, 2022) looked at the ecological value of trace metals in fresh water systems and the level of pollution in the water of the Kashmir Himalayas.…”
